Dec. 29, 2009
Three former Longhorns have been named to the 2010 Pro Bowl, including Dallas Cowboys OG Leonard Davis, Pittsburgh Steelers DT Casey Hampton and Washington Redskins LB/DE Brian Orakpo.
Davis has now been selected to three consecutive Pro Bowls, while Hampton has made five overall, including 2004, ’06, ’07 and ’08. The five appearances tie the UT record shared by Earl Campbell, Bobby Layne, Bud McFadin and Tommy Nobis.
Orakpo joins Vince Young as a rookie Pro Bowler in the last four years. Orakpo also becomes the 35th player in UT history to reach the Pro Bowl for a total of 83 appearances.
The selections give Texas nine consecutive years with at least one former player in the game and five straight years with at least two participants. It is the eighth time there have been three or more Longhorns in the game.
The 2010 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, and televised live on ESPN at 6:30 p.m. Central from Dolphin Stadium in South Florida.
