Former Texas TE David Thomas and the New Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts, 31-17, in Super Bowl XLIV on Sunday night in Miami.

Thomas becomes the fourth member of the 2005 National Championship team to also win a Super Bowl Championship, following WR Limas Sweed and OT Tony Hills with the Pittsburgh Steelers last year, and CB Aaron Ross with the New York Giants two seasons ago.

In the game, Thomas caught one pass for nine yards and played a significant role in the offense as a blocking back and tight end as the Saints rallied from a 10-0 deficit, matching the largest comeback in Super Bowl history.

It was Thomas' second Super Bowl appearance including one with the New England Patriots in 2008. He became the eighth Longhorn to participate in more than one Super Bowl, but the first to do so with more than one team.

Thomas' appearance in the Super Bowl was the 12th by a Longhorn in the last five years, and he is the 20th different Texas player to win a title.
